The Parkland Fly Patterns

Some of the more effective versions

Many visitors to the Parkland region often wonder what fly patterns they should bring--or tie. Like anywhere else in the fly fishing world some patterns are better suited than others.

There are those that should be in every fly box--patterns like the Golden Muddler, the Hare's Ear, the Trueblood Otter Shrimp and an assortment of black, olive and other favorite wooly buggers--with and without bead heads. Those patterns are well reported upon elsewhere so we'll concentrate on creations we've found to work well on stillwaters-- in the Parkland or elsewhere. Yes, most of them are very effective anywhere in the world where water flows, slows or stops flowing altogether -- like in lakes.

Note:

This site depends heavily upon use of the Adobe Acrobat Reader which is available for download at www.adobe.com for free. Firefox users should pay close attention to the installation. Others must be certain that the reader installs as an add-on so it will open properly. Some browsers require that you right click on the link and then use "Save Target As" or "Save Link as". That will open the link, you can save the file to view in the Acrobat Reader.

To date we have several submissions for particularly effective fly patterns and more coming:
